GC4C Proposal Criteria and Required Information:
- MUST be a Canadian registered non-profit organization and provide registration information
- Must be non-partisan (not aligned with political, religious or ideological causes)
- Proposed projects must support CHILDREN (under 18 years) and promote one or all of the following: education, health, and/or social and economic progress of children
- Because most of the GC4C team is affiliated with the mining industry and receives a large portion of its funding from this sector, organizations making proposals should not be anti-mining
Other Information and Important Criteria:
- We like to partner with established charities with similar values to our own, which include demonstrated and measurable respect, transparency and integrity
- We avoid “slush fund” projects and prefer projects in which GC4C can be responsible for a specific project, or a part of a project
- We look for projects that will become sustainable
- We look for low administration costs and DO NOT fund wages/salaries, or training programs for instructors
- We like to assist smaller organizations, those overlooked by large government funding
- We like to impact many children’s lives directly, and look at how many children might benefit per proposal
Please be aware that if a project is selected for funding, we ask organizations for the following:
- An accounting of 100% of funding received from GC4C (ie. A demonstration that the funds were spent on the approved proposal)
- An opportunity for a site visit by one or more of the GC4C volunteers, if requested
- An opportunity for a GC4C plaque, or logo, to be put up at the proposed site, or some other agreed form of recognition
- Updates, along with photos, of the project (through to completion) that we can use on our website
